A legacy that spans over 70 years
In 1955, a visionary from Linz named Friedrich Jahn changed the culinary world forever. With the invention of the first rotisserie chicken grill, he triggered a revolution – and created the perfect balance between crispy skin and juicy, tender meat that had never existed before.
In the same year, Friedrich transformed his Munich restaurant "Linzer Stüberl" into "WienerWald", where his innovative rotisserie chicken and his characteristic specialties quickly won over the hearts of guests throughout the city.
A feeling that went around the world
What began in a restaurant became a movement.
Friedrich Jahn established the franchising system in Europe and let Wienerwald grow from a single location to a beloved Austrian institution. But he didn't simply build restaurants, he created experiences.
Every Wienerwald location captured something magical: the elegant charm of Vienna, seamlessly connected with Bavarian warmth and hospitality. This unique atmosphere, this distinctive feeling of coziness, carried our name far beyond the borders of Austria and Bavaria and touched hearts around the globe.
